Defy Society Arts La Puerta

Welcome to another splendiferous block! This week I’m thrilled to present this textured cutie presented by Defy Society Arts! La Puerta embodies everything I’ve come to love from Defy Society Arts patterns and I’m positive that you’ll all fall in love with it too!!

Let’s learn a little more about the square and the designer behind it!

Jessie Warren is the resident designer of Defy Society Arts. Her imagination combined with her use of bold textures and style create eye-catching designs that her fans absolutely love.

You can find her all around the internet!

A few words from Jessie!

I started crocheting about six years ago because I saw my best friend’s creations and fell in love and wanted to make my own. I’ve always loved yarn arts and used to watch my great grandma crochet when I was younger. I initially started off selling crochet items but am doing more designing lately.

Thoughts about her newest pattern, La Puerta!

I love FPDC and BPDC and have noticed a good chunk of my designs including them. I also like to mix and mash stitches to make something a little different than the obvious. My nephew saw the square and thought it looked like a door. I agreed. Hence the name “La Puerta” (“the door” in Spanish).

I love variegated yarn and am having a love affair with purple lately (my favorite color is green). I wanted to use something that was a splash of color but get too far away from purple. I wanted the rows to blend but not blend… I wanted the illusion of graffiti on La Puerta.

Important details about this block from the designer:

Gauge: 25 SC= 7”
Skill Level: beginner
Materials Used: Craft smart yarn from hobby lobby and an H Hook

Special Stitches FPDC, BPDC and a Cluster stitch

I hope you enjoy tackling this week’s block and you’re looking forward to next week’s exclusive design from Little Goose Crochet!
