A few words from Amber!
I’m Amber, the creative force behind Divine Debris. I learned to crochet as a child but didn’t pick it up again until I was married and moving across the country a couple of times with my Marine husband. Crochet keeps me creative, grounded and excited about new ideas. I’ve been nominated for a Crochet Award, published in The Pattern Pack and Happily Hooked Magazine.
Thoughts about her newest pattern, The Olivia Square:
I love dramatic designs and that was what was in my head when I sat down to create for this afghan project. I wanted to design a square with a lot of excitement within the design, hopefully a design that no one else was making and a design that would stand out.
When making this square in multiple colors I really wanted to highlight some of my favorite things about it, which include the chains that move about the design and the post stitches at the beginning. I love texture and movement and changing colors for these rows, I think, really shows how much diversity is of texture can be found in this square. I also like how isolated the fans in the corners look, because the brown border reminds me of a frame and lets the design stand on it’s own, as well as hiding the chains between the fans. I feel like everything is bursting or blooming from the center but only as far as the frame will allow it. Kinda like a controlled chaos.
